Spring 2022 tea from ancient tree gardens on the upper slopes of the Thượng Sơn commune area of Hà Giang.
 
Teas from Thượng Sơn are known for their strong alpine forest fragrance and sweetness with good teas having just enough bitterness and astringency to balance.
 
A lot of the lower elevation gardens are over-harvested resulting in weaker teas but this high-elevation garden has a much more sustainable management strategy.
 
This tea was processed a bit redder than typical modern Yunnan processing but greener than typical Vietnam processing.
 
Strong fragrance and sweetness with a low-medium bitterness/ astringency. Some warmer notes from the less than green processing and a strong qi and lasting huigan.
